Benefits of Facelift Surgery

Aging can often take its toll on many men and women, and it is especially apparent on their faces. Whether you are struggling with wrinkles, sagging skin, or fine lines, it is clear that everyone wants to look their best. Many patients commonly turn to facial plastic surgery to enhance their appearance. One of the most popular procedure options is facelift surgery. While some patients may require extensive facial rejuvenation, others can benefit from minor enhancements through mid-facelift surgery. Dr. Alexander offers both procedures to help patients look and feel more youthful.

Facelift Procedure

Facelift surgery can effectively tighten sagging skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles to restore a more youthful aesthetic. This procedure is performed by removing and repositioning the skin and muscle tissue along the mid-face, lower face, neck, and jawline. An incision will be made around the hairline at the temples and continue around the ear to the lower scalp. The facial muscles will then be lifted and tightened, and excess skin will be trimmed. The remaining skin will be redraped over the uplifted contours.

Patients can choose between a full and mini facelift, or their procedure can be combined with a neck lift. It is also important that patients are in good health and have realistic expectations before undergoing facelift surgery.

Mid-Facelift Procedure

Not all patients who experience noticeable signs of aging require a traditional facelift procedure.  Mid-facelift surgery, also known as a cheek lift, is performed to address sagging of the cheeks and other areas of the mid-face. This type of lift is ideal for patients who have heaviness below the cheeks and hollowness under the eyes. During your surgery, small incisions will be made in the hairline above the patient’s ear. Then, excess fat and skin are removed to give fullness to the eyes to create a more youthful appearance. Mid-facelift surgery also results in less scarring than a traditional facelift.
