Why an Eyelid Lift Might Be the Only Surgery You Need

3 Minute Read:

Despite being visual creatures, humans can’t see much right away—babies are only able to see up to a foot away clearly for the first few weeks of their lives.

But the eyes develop quickly, and by the time they are three months old, most babies’ eyes will reach their full adult width, creating those big, adorable “baby eyes” we all go wild for. Close-up of woman’s eye before and after surgery.

Science has proven we are hard-wired to find these big, wide eyes attractive, even as we grow older. They simply look brighter, younger, and more alert than eyes that are small or dull.

Unfortunately, it does not take much for our eyes to show the signs of wear and tear. Think of the dark circles that happen after a sleepless night, or the damage that squinting can do to the skin around our eyes.

Because the skin that surrounds our eyes is so delicate, it is among the first areas to show the signs of aging.

Why Should I Get an Eyelid Lift?

From lifting serums to herbal lotions, the business of eye rejuvenation makes up a considerable segment of the beauty world today.

But cosmetics can only go so far, especially when it comes to drooping tissue or sagging eyelids.

An eyelid lift, also referred to as a blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess tissue from above and below the eyes, tightening the entire area.

An eyelid lift can be used to treat:

  • Loose or sagging skin around the eyes
  • Fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the eyelids
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Drooping lower eyelids
  • Upper eyelid hooding
  • Excess skin
  • Fine wrinkles on the lower eyelid

The delicate tissue that surrounds our eyes lose elasticity easily, making it more likely to wrinkle and sag. Even rubbing too hard when removing makeup can cause the lines to start appearing.

If you find yourself with tired-looking eyes all the time, despite taking care of your skin and getting enough rest, an eyelid lift may be the next step to keeping this delicate area rejuvenated.

Can an Eyelid Lift Rejuvenate the Entire Face?

An eyelid lift truly does what all those “miracle” eye creams claim to do: remove under-eye bags, reduce lines, and tighten sagging tissue for brighter, more alert eyes.

This procedure can also be combined with other facial procedures, including facelift surgery or brow lift surgery, for an overall rejuvenating effect. However, patients may find that there’s simply no need for these additional cosmetic procedures after their eyelid lift is done, and recovery is complete.

This is a testament to how much our eyes matter and how open, inviting eyes are more appealing than their dull-looking counterparts.

It’s simply science—we are much more attracted to bright, wide eyes and the youthfulness they convey.

An eyelid lift minimizes the need for further work by improving one of our most noticeable facial features.

As they say, it’s all in the eyes—and an eyelid lift is one of the most effective ways to refresh and rejuvenate your entire face.
