Accentuate Your Brows With Surgery

As we age, the skin on our face can begin to develop unwanted wrinkles and fine lines that can make a person look older than they are. While many patients tend to focus on reducing the appearance of imperfections along their midface, they may not realize that the upper face needs just as much attention. Over time, the muscles around the eyes and forehead can become weak, resulting in loose and sagging skin. This can cause the eyebrows to droop and make a person look tired and worn out. Brow lift surgery can take years off your face by rejuvenating your facial appearance and restoring youthfulness to the eyebrows and forehead.

Brow Lift: Recovery Guide

Your Recovery

Following your brow lift surgery, you will be asked to wear surgical bandages along the treated area to protect your new brows and reduce swelling. Swelling and bruising will continue to occur for a few weeks, but this is only temporary and will resolve shortly after. You may also experience some minor to moderate pain as your eyebrows recover. This can be controlled with pain medicine that will be prescribed to you by your surgeon. Most patients will be able to return to work 10 days after their surgery unless instructed otherwise by their surgeon.

How to Properly Take Care of Your New Brows

To ensure your results last as long as possible, it is important that you follow these simple steps during your recovery period. Making sure you take proper care of your new appearance can reduce any complications that may arise and give you the brows you have always desired.

Stay Out of the Sun

Overexposure to sunlight without applying the proper amount of sunscreen will not only burn your face, but it can cause severe damage to the skin. The sun’s harmful UV rays can cause your skin to develop unwanted facial wrinkles and lines, especially along the eyebrows. Be sure you avoid direct exposure to the sun as much as possible. If you plan on being outside, protect your new brows by gentle applying sunscreen around the treated area and wear protective clothing like a large hat and sunglasses to block the sun from your face.

Avoid Strenuous Activities

It is important that you set aside as much time as possible from work to get the amount of rest you need during your recovery. That being said, activities that cause your brows to sweat should be avoided for a few weeks. Your incisions need time to close so they can heal. Sweating along the brows may affect your recovery and can even cause infection along the treated area. Should you sweat, gently clean your eyebrows using a soft rag and lightly dab the area with warm water.

Follow Up With Your Surgeon

While recovering from brow lift surgery is not as extensive as facelift surgery, it is essential that you follow up with your surgeon at least one week after your procedure. During your follow-up appointment, your surgeon will confirm that your brows are healing properly.
